We are happy to announce that Southwest Airlines has selected Amadeus’ Altéa as our domestic reservation solution, which moves us one step closer toward completion of our fifth strategic initiative: a single reservation solution for both international and domestic travel.
We entered into an agreement with Amadeus IT Group to support our international service, and the sale of our international itineraries is underway with flights to commence on July 1. Southwest is the largest domestic carrier in the United States, and we believe having one reservation system will provide a better operation for our Employees and our Customers as we embark on our very bright future domestically and abroad.
Over the next few years, we will be working to build our single reservation solution with Amadeus, but this work will be invisible to our Customers. We are very excited about this development as we work hard each and every day to fulfill our Purpose, which is connecting People to the important moments in their lives through friendly, reliable, and low-cost air travel.
