Greenville-Spartanburg Turns One!

Today, we sing Happy Birthday to Greenville-Spartanburg as March 13 marks one year since we welcomed the first set of Customers onboard traveling from GSP.  To thank the Upstate community for choosing the LUV airline as their hometown carrier, we are inviting folks traveling through GSP to join us for a day-long anniversary party in the Southwest gate areas.  Customers will have the opportunity to enjoy food, FUN, games, music, and the chance to win roundtrip tickets anywhere our canyon blues fly.

As I look back on one year, I can certainly tell you that Customers are ecstatic that Southwest Airlines finally brought its big planes, little fares, and excellent Customer Service to the Upstate.  Over the past year, numerous Customers have told us that they are so happy they no longer have to drive to Charlotte (or even farther) to catch not only an affordable and comfortable flight, but to experience some of that good ol’ Southwest hospitality.

The past year has flown by, but the Employees remain excited to be a part of something as special as opening a new Station in such a great city.  GSP may be a small Station, but we have no shortage of camaraderie, Team Spirit, and the desire to give back to the community.

Leading our Southwest Warriors for the first year has been an amazing experience!  I could not have asked for a more hard-working, dedicated, and Fun-LUVing Team of people to bring Southwest Airlines to the Upstate.

From serving Customers here every day with a smile to rolling up our sleeves and volunteering in the community, all of this hard work over the past year is paying off.  In fact, GSP was recently recognized as one of the top performing Stations in the Southwest system for 2011

If you haven’t visited Greenville-Spartanburg, add it to your list.  I like to call this area a hidden gem—it truly has it all.  We have great weather practically year-round for outdoor activities.  We have the mountains nearby, and the beach is just a short drive away.  Not only that, but we have a thriving restaurant scene, cultural scene, and nightlife as well.  We here at GSP feel so very grateful to be able to live in such a special place!  Check out what to do in Greenville and Spartanburg, and I promise you won’t be disappointed!  And, be sure to stop by and say hello if you’re in the city I’ve easily grown to call home in the past year.

Charleston also turns one today, and Customers will enjoy a full day of celebrating the special occasion tomorrow.  So stay tuned for more South Carolina LUV!
