Rob VosCulture, camaraderie, and combined efforts are just a few things that come to mind when First Officer Rob Vos thinks about Southwest Airlines. Rob joined the Southwest Family eight years ago, and he has more than 30 years of flying experience. On his first day at Southwest, Rob noticed that there was something different about the Company. “The Culture is definitely what sets Southwest apart,” Rob says. He gives a lot of thanks to his management for leading by example, and he firmly believes in the pay-it-forward philosophy, which he puts into action by organizing an annual lunch for his Fellow Employees at the Norfolk Station as a way of thanking them for all their hard work and service. Since he started with the Company, Rob has commuted weekly from his hometown of Norfolk to Baltimore/Washington and has fostered great friendships with the Norfolk Station Employees. Just as Rob LUVs his job as a First Officer, he also LUVs what the job does for him. Southwest affords Rob opportunities to do things he enjoys outside of work, like fishing, golfing, and spending time with his wife of 30 years and their two daughters. He is grateful for his travel privileges, which allow his daughter Abby to fly back and forth from graduate school, and he also appreciates the “Freedom to think outside the box” that his supportive management gives their Team. “We all take care of each other with the ultimate goal of taking care of our Customers,” Rob says. “Rob is one of the best folks we have,” Baltimore/ Washington Chief Pilot Bert Seither says. It comes as no surprise to us, Rob, that you were named Star of the Month. We are so lucky to have you on our Team. Your nonstop commitment to Southwest has not gone unnoticed, and we couldn’t be prouder of you!
