As Executive Director for The Birthday Party Project, I am in the birthday business. Since 2012, The Birthday Party Project has been bringing homeless children joy through the magic of birthdays. Every month, we host ten birthday parties in the Dallas/Fort Worth area at our partner nonprofit agencies. Each party is complete with games, crafts, cupcakes, and party favors. A special cake and birthday gift is given to the children celebrating their birthdays that month. Over the past two years, we have celebrated more than 500 birthdays with more than 4,000 kids.
Today, Southwest Airlines celebrates their 43rd birthday and celebrated by giving back. We are thrilled to have Southwest sponsor two of our June celebrations. On June 16 and June 18, Southwest Employees will help our parties soar by donating their time and LUV at Ronald McDonald House of Dallas and New Friends New Life. Southwest will help us throw birthday parties that show how much these kids are LUVed and celebrated.
Many of the kids we celebrate for have never had a birthday party. For one night, worries are forgotten, and these kids get to dream big. Our parties are not only a celebration of their special day, but also a loud exclamation that they matter.
Those of us at The Birthday Party Project are thankful for the Servants’ Hearts of Southwest Employees, who willingly lend a hand or even throw a birthday party for deserving kids. Southwest, THANK YOU for making birthday wishes come true, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
