Statement on Southwest Flight #3118 - Updated Mon., Dec. 22, 11 AM CST

We continue our work with investigators looking into the safe landing of Southwest Airlines Flight #3118 from San Antonio to Baltimore/Washington on December 13th. The aircraft touched down at 8:49ET after an apparent bird strike on approach to the airfield. The Pilot in command declared an emergency before landing. There were no injuries among the 142 Customers and five Crew. The aircraft was taken out of service for inspections after the event.

 

Statement Regarding Flight 4013 - Updated Fri., Dec. 12, 9:30 PM CST

Southwest Airlines Flight #3118 from San Antonio to Baltimore/Washington landed safely at Baltimore/Washington at 8:49ET this evening after encountering a bird strike. The Pilot in command declared an emergency, and, in a measure of further precaution, was met by emergency vehicles upon arrival. All 142 Customers and five Crew members are safe.

The aircraft is out of service for inspections and Customers continuing on to Detroit will be accommodated on another aircraft.
