Things Got Ugly at the Southwest Porch... and We Need Your Vote

To celebrate the holidays at the Southwest Porch in Bryant Park, we threw an Ugly Holiday Sweater Party last Monday. Guests were asked to come decked out in their tackiest knits, and enjoy a winter’s evening outdoors, cozied up around the fire. When asked to come dressed in their worst, people showed a daring lack of shame, arriving to the Porch with some hilariously ugly get-ups. Throughout the night, we snapped photos of the ugly sweater contenders in our Holiday Photo Booth. Each of these photos is now up for the title of the Ugliest Holiday Sweater of 2012.

Contestants Amy and Ludmila both made their over-the-top holiday sweaters with garland and spare holiday decorations.

Amy

Amy jingled all night from the small bells sewn into the rosettes up and down her sleeves. Contests Kevie, Sara, and Pia rounded up some delightfully tacky attire that, even more frighteningly, was once sold in stores.

Pia

Pia adorned hers with a necklace made of working icicle lights, while Sara turned to the photobooth props to make her ensemble come to life. While some attempted to become the ugliest by making themselves a mess of gaudy decorations, others opted for humor in their quest to be crowned.

Red Nose

Stefanie, Kristin and Jessica each took on the roles of Reindeer, Santa and Present, complete with a truly red-nosed reindeer, painted on with lipstick.

Lulu

Bobby dressed his dog Lulu with antlers for their photo op, but surely a pup this cute can't be deemed the "ugliest".

In all, 23 groups dared to don their Ugly Holiday Sweaters and compete for the title. Now we need your votes to help us pick the ugliest in all the land. Get into the holiday spirit, and head over to vote for your favorite ugly sweater of the bunch. Voting will be open through Christmas Eve, and we will announce the winner on Christmas Day.
