What Should I Do?

halloween-kiss.jpgI need your advice pronto.  Halloween (which is a huge Southwest Airlines celebration) is less than two months away, and I still haven't decided who I should be for Halloween.  The past three years have been a lot of fun for me as I got to be Gene Simmons of KISS, Wild Bill Hickok, halloween-wild-bill.jpgand Captain Jack Sparrow.  Your help was invaluable last year, so I am asking for your assistance again this Halloween. My "Halloween Helpers" need to go costume hunting very soon, so please leave me your thoughts as soon as possible. halloween-gary.jpg

How about a tribute to Herb Kelleher? He has done some wonderful crazy things over the years.

Hi Leah and Nicole....I'm not sure where to post messages for you two, but since I've gotten responses from both of you on this post in the past, I'll do so again. Sadly, I got the "dreaded" letter in the mail yesterday. Now I have to decide if I am willing to wait an entire year to apply for this same position again. I have already applied for three other positions at my airport, but I do have a question. I know I can't apply for the same position at my local airport again for a year (CSA), but can I apply for that same position at another airport before that year is up? Thanks for your help!! 🙂

Hi, Jill. I'm so sorry you received the "dreaded" letter That seriously makes me want to cry. I know I did when I wasn't selected for training. 😞 *Sends hugs.* Waiting a year to try again is hard. You can apply at another airline for the same position at another airport, as well as your own; also, & I've done this, you can (if you want to) apply for another position with Southwest before the year is up. Just don't give up! Thanks for letting me (& Nicole) know, & please keep us updated!

Leah - thanks for your kind words. It's nice to hear from someone who knows "what it feels like" to get that stinkin' letter! I've applied for a couple of different positions at the local airport, and hopefully I'll have a better outcome the next time. I'll still be reading these boards as often as I can, so I can keep up with your current status along with Nicole's status. ****I do have to say that it was a sad day, but things happen for a reason, and I'm so fortunate that I'm leaving next weekend on my "belated" honeymoon - to Alaska, so that should help take my mind off things. I'll be looking for you and Nicole on future posts - 🙂

Jill, BUMMER! 😞 I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm not sure what the rules are regarding applying for other positions within the year. Common sense tells me that if there is a better fit for you within the company then you should definitely apply. Don't give up! Our dream jobs are out there and we will get them when the time is right! *big hug of encouragement* Please let us know how it's going - I check all of the blog posts - so you can probably find me anywhere! Jill, you're welcome. That would be nice if you, Nicole, & I could all interview & train at the same time! 🙂 I know you will have fun in Alaska! I LUV it there! I flew to Anchorage in July 2001 to help with Vacation Bible School & was gone 10 days. It's an awesome place. 🙂

Gary, have you decided on a costume yet? 🙂

Gary, if you really want to give people a good scare, why not show up in a three-piece suit and wear a mask with the face of the CEO of one of the legacy airlines. Announce the acquisition of Southwest by another carrier. Talk about horror! :-) But maybe not ... even with defibrillators handy and paramedics standing by, it might prove too much for the faint of heart.

The Geico caveman would be freaken darn hilarious. You could also go with the King Leonidas from the 300 movie (http://www.costumzee.com/tag/300/) or Borat (http://www.costumzee.com/tag/borat/), if you dare do it! Can' wait to see what you chose!
