If I check in and have Boarding position, say, A45, when I change planes at a connecting airport do I have same boarding position?

Probably not identical, although it is possible. Your connecting flight will also check in at the same time as your originating flight, so most likely it will be equal or better position if you check in at the 24-hour mark (i.e. you may be ahead of the 24-hour mark on your connecting flight, but still behind the A-list and Early-Birds).

Unless you happen to snag a vacated position for one of the flights then the two could be be way different positions, but a rule of thumb is that the connecting flight will be similar or slightly better than your first flight.

Agree with DancingDavidE -- it's likely the second flight boarding position will be a bit better.  Check the boarding pass for your second flight just to make sure.  I've usually had a better boarding position on 2nd leg flights so I see David's rationale.
