Carry On Question

Hi,

I am boarding my 2nd ever flight this weekend and this time it is with Southwest and wanted to be sure I was reading and understanding correctly the carry on.

You are allowed 2 carry on for free, one a carry on  and a personal item. The trip is only going to be for a few days, so I was hoping to bring a small duffle bag with my needed things (clothing, misc daily things) and a backpack with a tablet and few other things). Would this combination qualify as long as they are within the dimension sizes (10 x 16 x 24 inches for carry on, 18.5 x 8.5 x 13.5 inch for personal item)?

Yes, that combination would qualify as long as neither are no larger than the dimensions you stated. On my last flight a week ago, I had a standard carry-on sized suitcase in the overhead bin and a backpack under the seat in front of me. As long as your personal item fits all the way under the seat (and those dimensions would allow it to), then you are good to go.
