Baggage Dimensions - How Strict?

Hi everybody,

I'm booked on a round trip HOU to LAX in June this year. I have just checked the checked baggage size limitations, which is 62" per checked item.

We have 2 Samsonite Aeris Upright Spinner Cases, the dimension of which are 81.0 x 59.0 x 34.0 cm (which is 174.0 cm in total, or 68 1/2")

Can someone advise how strict this limitation is? I understand that it is over 6" more than the allowance....so will I definitely be charged for it? If so, that will mean $300 excess for both items round trip, so it would be more sensible for me to buy new (smaller) suitcases.

Thanks in advance for any advice....

Rod

Hi @RodneyBruce,

While it's possible that there are Customer Service Agents who might make an exception and check the bags at no extra charge, you shouldn't count on it. The bags are technically larger than 62", so the expectation would be that these will incur the oversized bag fee.
