Early Bird check-in on 2 segment flights, one being to Dominican Republic

I am flying to the Domican Republic, stopping and changing planes in Chicago. How do I check in for 2nd leg of trip. I would prefer early bird for this one.

You only check in once.  24hr before your departure date you will be able to check in but you will not be able to print your boarding pass at home because it is an international flight.  You could do early bird for your departure and your seat will be reserved 36hr before.   You will receive your boarding pass when you show your passport at check in at the airport on your departure date. 

You will also have a better boarding position then the people who board the plane in Chicago because you will have checked in for the first leg of your trip before they check in for their flight out of Chicago.
