I am traveling to Denver on a kayaking and biking trip. I've heard Southwest will allow different types of sports equipment to be checked on the plane. If I were to check my kayak or bike, what is the maximum size that can be transported and how much would the fee be for checking the equipment?

Sports equipment may be checked on Southwest. A kayak, other than a sea kayak, will be acceptable as Checked Baggage but will require a $75 charge each way. Bicycles, depending on size, may either count as one of your two free checked items or if too large will require a $75 charge each way.
