Multi-City travel Luggage question

My daughter is flying from Las Vagas to Tampa with a change of planes in Dallas.  We are flying from Memphis to Dallas to meet up with her and we booked seats on her connecting flight so all three of us travel to Tampa together.  There is no scheduled flight from Memphis to Tampa, thru Dallas so I had to book multicity reservations.  My question is after we arrive in Dallas waiting for my daughter's flight, will we have to pick up our luggage and recheck-in or will the bags go from Memphis to Dallas to Tampa?

When you check your bags in Memphis politely explain to the agent at the ticket counter that your final destination is actually Tampa Bay on a second reservation and they should be able to check the bag through for you. It's very possible to do, but sometimes the agents aren't quite sure how to do it. I've had to be a little persistent to get it done before, while other times it was easy. Give yourself a little extra time at check in to get it done just in case.
