I have my kids traveling by themselves for the first time. They are afraid. My youngest is 12 and his sister is 14. There is a plane switch along there travel. I know they are over the age limit for Southwest to be considered unaccompanied minors. Is there any way I can pay extra to have them helped so they won't be scared and so i can have a peace of mind?

Unfortunately, they can't. Southwest does not accompany passengers that are considered YT (12-17) . You can though go to the gate with them. In order to do that you must go to a southwest ticket counter to obtain an escort pass to get through security. Then they will be in their own for the rest of the journey. Southwest recommends that YT that are not ready to handle that not travel alone.
