Refund balance

I understand I have one year to use the money from my purchased tickets. In that year can I purchase new tickets or do I have to fly within a year to use the refund. My current year started 7-15-17 and I was hoping to travel at the end of 2018 ,early 2019.

Travel purchased will travel funds (credit from a canceled reservation) must be completed within one year of the original purchase. 

Note that the clock started ticking when you bought the original tickets.
