Lost Points

Last month I was just shy of my A List achievement of 70K points. I purchased a ticket on points and it dropped me back down to 35K. Is that how the program works in that you have to start again if you use earned points?

As long as you earn the required number of points within the calendar year you will achieve status.  You can use points throughout the year and that does not set you back in regards to achieving status.  Keep in mind though, you do not earn points for flights purchased with points.
