Are international (Mexico) taxes refundable for cancelled flight?

I was planning to use my Southwest RR points to book a flight (wanna getaway fare) to Cancun Mexico. Was gonna pay the $80.xx in US security fee and Mexico taxes using my Southwest Rapid Rewards Visa. I understand that if I cancel the flight, the points used just goes back to my RR account. But what happens to the international taxes? Does that just go back my SWA RR Visa or does that become a SWA airline credit.

For domestic flights booked with points and security fee paid with SWA Visa, the security fee normally gets refunded back to the credit card. Wondering what happens for cancelled international flights. Thanks.

Yes, you will be refunded for international taxes if you book with points.

Yes those taxes are refundable on a points ticket just be sure you select the refund option not the hold for future use option or it will be a credit.
