Booking with points then cancel.. Basically no risk ??

Hello,

New to boards here and do see several threads regarding Rapid Rewards bookings and cancellations and want to make sure that I understand this correctly.

scenerio:

I book 5 tickets for 5 people on same flight using RR points from my account . Something happens down the line and I need to cancel. All of those points are returned to my account (as if nothing was ever booked) for me to use at a later time for myself or anyone else with no penalty. Is this correct? If so, it seems like a "no risk" way to book air with SW.  i.e - use as a tool and keep checking for cheaper fares then rebook if need be. Even better then using $$ to book, where that is returned as travel funds for one year from booking to use for the person it was booked for. Do I have this right?

Yes, RR is an amazing program.  That is why it wins so many awards.  None of the other airline programs come close to this!
