Companion pass eligible purchases

To finish off the $2,000 credit card spending required for the bonus RR points, can I purchase gift cards from the local grocery? Would these purchases also qualify toward Companion Pass? The fine print I’ve found says that cash-like purchases do not qualify, but I’m not sure what that means.

Thats interesting. Where did you find those terms ?

I am pretty sure you can purchase gift cards from the grocery store and it counts toward the Companion Pass.

Any standard purchase made with the credit card will get you companion pass qualifying points. The cash like purchases comment is related to using the credit card to get cash at an ATM, purchasing foreign currency, or transactions like that, and has nothing to do with gift cards.

Thanks, that is helpful!

FYI, fine print about Bonus Points:

To qualify for your bonus points, you must make Purchases totaling $2,000 or more during the first 3 months from account opening. Please allow up to 8 weeks for bonus points to post to your Rapid Rewards® account. (“Purchases” do not include balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee, if applicable.) To be eligible for this bonus offer, account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment.
