gifting reward miles

Can I gift my reward miles to my niece? Does she have to have a Rewards account? I don't have enough miles to buy her ticket just want to gift these to her.

Unfortunately, Southwest charges a fee to gift or transfer your points to anyone else, and those fees eat up much of the value of the points themselves.

The fee to transfer your points to someone else is 1 cent per point.

"Gifting" points is the term Southwest uses when you buy new points for another person. That fee is 3 cents a point.

In general, it's not a good deal to buy/transefer or gift points.

Maybe you have enough to pay for a one-way flight for her?
