Holiday Click on photo to play video clip from Good Morning Texas   Holiday season is upon us, which can only mean one thing: it’s about to get a lot busier across our already bustling system. While holiday travel may be daunting, don’t fret! We’re here with some helpful travel tips and hints that will get you, your family, and those pretty wrapped presents to your destination without a hitch. Welcome aboard!
  • Be an Early Bird: If you’re flying Southwest, be sure to check-in for your flight 24 hours in advance to get your boarding number.  If you don’t want the hassle of remembering to check yourself in, you can purchase Early Bird and Southwest will do the work for you, checking you in at 36 hours prior to your flight.
  • Wait before you wrap:  TSA may want to check the packages that you are taking through security, so make sure you wait until you arrive to your final destination before wrapping your gifts.  Can’t wait?  You can check them!  On Southwest, Bags Fly Free, so go ahead and wrap your gifts and check them for your trip home for the holidays.
  • Not only Bags Fly Free: Pack those portable electronic devices to keep you and your kids entertained throughout the flight.  Southwest offers WiFi and other entertainment options via their onboard entertainment portal, but you must have your own device to access the offerings.  Customers can enjoy free live tv, compliments of Dish, as well as Beats Music, and a variety of movies and kids programming.
  • Cheers: Traveling on Thanksgiving?  Southwest likes to celebrate the holidays with Customers by offering a complimentary adult beverage on the house!  Just be sure to reference the inflight beverage menu and your Flight Attendant will take care of the rest!
  • Bring Spot to Grandma’s:  You know, your furry friend can fly home with you for the holidays!  Small cats and dogs are allowed on Southwest Airlines; their carrier takes the place of your carry-on.
But you don’t have to take our word for it: trust an expert!  One of our amazing Flight Attendants, Kim Nelsen Townsend, teamed up with Good Morning Texas to talk all things travel for your busy holiday season. Enjoy!
