I had the pleasure of joining Team CLE recently as we boarded a very special group of Customers. Honor Flight is a non-profit organization created to honor America's Veterans for all their sacrifices, and Southwest Airlines has the privilege of being the airline of choice for the Honor Flight ClevelandhonorflightCLE8_thumb Veterans. The third Wednesday of each month these Veterans board flight 2065 from Cleveland to Baltimore/Washington and spend the day in Washington, DC visiting their memorials. Then, as quickly as the one-hour flight took them to DC, the last flight from BWI to CLE brings them home. honorflightCLE6_thumbThis Wednesday was extra special as it marked the one-year anniversary of the flight. The festivities included a special pre-flight ceremony in which Honor Flight Cleveland and Southwest Airlines received proclamations from Cleveland Mayor Frank G. Jackson's office and, as thehonor flight 002_thumb Veterans taxied to the runway, they were sent off with a special water arch shot from the Cleveland Fire Department's water cannons. I can't thank Team CLE enough for allowing me to be part and this special day and I'd like to thank everyone in CLE who provides that Positively Outrageous Service that is Southwest Airlines. Team CLE, I know the volunteers from Honor Flight can't thank you enough for helping make this day so special for our Veterans. I belong to a coin club called the Western reserve Numismatic Club, in this club their also a member by the name of Lawrence Freeman, he’s a WWW II veteran and he’s being telling me a few other members this Honor flight trip that he took with your organization. When we meet we sometimes have “show and tell” related to coins, tokens, or other special events, this past Monday when we met Larry brought some pictures, medals that he won when he was active duty and he started to make his presentation regarding this “great trip” that he took with the “Honor Flight Of Cleveland” a few weeks ago and it did not cost him a penny. He told us many details including how everyone made him feel special and how wonderful the trip it was. As Marine Corps Vietnam veterans myself he made “choke up” the wonderful time he had, all the monuments on the tour and everything that he saw, and how special you guys treated him. I usually don’t write many thank you notes, but this one is very hard for me to sweep it under the carpet. Thank you much for showing Larry a great time and the great job your organization is doing. I just want you guys to know that there are people out here that do appreciate what you’re doing. Thank you again. Donald

As a member of the Honor Flight Cleveland Board I would like to thank Southwest Airlines, Valerie, Sandy and Amy for there undying service to our World War II veterans. They make our trips run so smoothly we just don't know what we would do without them. Last year (2008) we were able to fly 535 World War II veterans to see their memorial at NO COST TO THEM. As we start our third flying year (April 2009) we would like to invite all World War II veterans that have not sent in an application to fly with us to contact us at , Honor Flight Cleveland 440-639-9368. Thank you again SWA we sure look forwarding to working with you again this year. Jan

I recently made a trip to Washington with the Cleveland Honor Flight. I volunteered as a guardian for a WWII vet. it was a very thrilling experience. the entire trip was well planned and executed. the "director", Alan Revercomb, a Vietnam vet USMC, did a superb job of making sure the day was a great tribute to the WWII vets. i highly recommend the trip. as a USAF Vietnam vet, i was very pleased to be able to help those WWII vets see the memorial, at this stage of their life. without question, they were most appreciative of this opportunity.
