from the heart logo Southwest Airlines has always given from the heart, and we especially LUV to support organizations that assist Families Facing Serious Illnesses. Our relationships with Ronald McDonald House Charities, Make-A-Wish, and the nearly 100 hospitals in our Medical Transportation Grant Program allow us to help families dealing with difficult medical issues on a daily basis. However, we realize that the true heroes are the doctors, nurses, and staff who treat and care for these patients every day. Through my volunteer work at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas, I have seen this firsthand. Several years ago, I received a call from the Volunteer Director at Scottish Rite. We had worked with each other many years before when I was a Volunteer Director at another local hospital. He asked if a group of Southwest Employees would be interested in decorating a tree at the hospital for the holidays. We jumped at the chance to brighten the halls of the hospital over the holiday season. While we were there spreading holiday cheer, the doctors, nurses, and staff of the hospital impressed us with their ability to treat all of the children with patience, grace, and love.  It was inspiring to see how much they cared about each and every patient. It is very special to help such a great organization and our neighbor. After all, our planes fly directly over the hospital many times throughout the day. So it makes it especially nice that our Dallas Flight Attendant Base has adopted Scottish Rite as our special community outreach partner. The doctors, nurses, and staff of Scottish Rite have touched the hearts of our own Employees and their families and friends.  We are humbled by the amazing efforts of the hospital and the positive impact they have on countless children in North Texas. We LUV that we are able to share a bit of our Southwest Spirit with our many friends at Scottish Rite, and we want to thank them for all that they do!
