Valentine’s Day: The Only Airline with a Heart

It’s been three weeks since I started my internship with Southwest Airlines and it has been nothing short of amazing.  Starting off the New Year with a Company that was recently awarded 2015 Airline of the Year by Air Transport World, there was very little that could have prepared me for the happiness and LUV that surrounds each Employee, every single day.  I learned this the hard way (or maybe I should “warm” way) when I introduced myself to our former Senior Vice President Business Development Dave Ridley with a handshake, and he went for a hug.  Was it awkward?  A little bit, but that’s just the way things are at Southwest. Whether you’re in the air with us today or on the ground, we have some plans to make sure you’re feeling the love on Valentine’s Day.  For all you last minute shoppers out there, your Valentine doesn’t have to know you bought their gift today. Instead of getting them something, get them somewhere with a southwestgiftcard.  With over 98 destinations to choose from, internationals included, you and your Valentine can celebrate today, next weekend, or next year because they never expire.  That’s right, our gift cards are good for as long as you are. If you’re flying with us today, you’re in for a treat.  And by that, I mean drink.  Customers ages 21 and up may enjoy an adult beverage on us.  That’s because we don’t just thank you, we love you. shirtAnd if you aren’t feeling the love yet, check out the heart-themed merchandise at our Freedom Shop. That way you can wear your heart on your sleeve physically and mentally! No matter what your plans are for Valentine’s Day, Love is always in the air at Southwest.  Having flown Southwest my whole life, it is refreshing to know the Love truly does run deep.  Because without a Heart, it’s just a machine.
