1-Mikaela's Flight Cover.jpg

I always get a little nervous traveling with my five-year-old, autistic daughter, Mikaela. Every parent struggles, and a part of my struggle is my own anxiety, stemming from never knowing when and what may cause my child to have a breakdown. As a last resort, we attempted to pack it up to ship as oversized baggage for our return trip home only to discover that wasn’t going to work. A wonderful Southwest Employee heard our dilemma and was determined to reunite us with my son’s holiday gift. In all honesty, I never expected to hear from him again...

MCI.1jpg.jpgOne of many cards made by sweet kindergarteners.

To say that Southwest Airlines went above and beyond with their Customer Service and care is an understatement.  When I faced my worst fear as a police wife and not being in my home town everyone at Southwest Airlines—from start to finish—took me under their wing and treated me as one of their own family members.

As a WWII Navy Pilot, aviation is one of Mr. Richards’ many passions, but it is specifically the love he feels from my Southwest Cohearts that keeps Mr. Richards flying. Every Thursday, he goes to the Albuquerque Sheraton to meet and thank Southwest Crew Members staying there. When he travels, he has a special song he sings onboard about spreading love and happiness.

Earlier this month, we brought Mr. Richards to Southwest's Dallas Headquarters to express our appreciation with a VIP experience. Upon his departure in Albuquerque, the Station threw him a send-off party to commemorate his journey.
