Twelve flights in 13 weeks sounds like a completely reasonable amount of trips to many of our most frequent-flying Customers and Crew, but as a first-time expecting mom I found myself losing the internal willpower battle to make it through my packed few weeks on the move—all while fighting the symptoms that often come with the first signs of pregnancy. [Insert green, nausea face emoji!].

Mother’s Day is always special, but here at Southwest Airlines it tends to be an extra special day as many of our Employees have followed their mom’s footsteps and now work alongside them as members of the Southwest Family. Here are a few of their stories.
Today, Southwest Airlines announces our intent to serve Honolulu, HI (Oahu); Kahului, HI (Maui); Kona, HI (Island of Hawaii); Lihue, HI (Kauai). While we do not yet have details to share on exact dates or routes, they do represent our initial footprints and top priorities for the soonest service in the State of Hawaii.
Intern Kevin Satterfield works in Network Planning & Performance and helps his Team on a variety of projects. “This internship has been very rewarding. I have a profound hearing loss, which makes hearing others and, by extension, participating difficult. However, Southwest accommodated me at all stages of the interview process, provided interpreters, and continues to ensure I have all the resources to fully contribute to this wonderful Company.”
It’s not a secret that here at Southwest Airlines, we are a Company that has always shown love, support, and admiration for our Military. When we discovered Olivia was seeking assistance with arranging roundtrip airfare for her father, a Vietnam Veteran, to travel to Florida to meet his grandchildren and great grandson—all of whom her father had never met before, we sprung into action.
When I think about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., there are several words that come to mind: civility, equality, respect, love, service, and community to name a few. Today is a great reminder of the responsibility we each have to do our part to show kindness to one another and to embrace civility, even in difficult times.

It’s cooling down outside, but the competition on the football field is heating up. The annual rivalry between The University of Texas and The University of Oklahoma is a beloved tradition. As the Official Airline of the Red River Showdown, we have come up with our own friendly competition that can onlybe done one way—the Southwest Way.
Southwest Airlines partnered with GenHERation for Discovery Days 2017 to provide a day of learning about Southwest and women in the workforce for 50 young women. Among these girls was Lilly Santiago, a SWA Ramp Agent's daughter, who previously connected with many Southwest women and spent a day in the field in Baltimore.
