A letter from Herb Kelleher more than 20 years ago began my involvement with the Southwest LUV Classic & Party. The passion for the event, which benefits children’s charities, grew for my colleagues and me over the years—we went from simply golfing in the tournament to becoming sponsors so that we could invest directly! Two years ago, our connection to the Southwest LUV Classic & Party and one of this year’s recipients, the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), grew even stronger.

Embracing our Servant’s Heart and giving back to our communities is one of the many ways Southwest Airlines Employees Live the Southwest Way. As a Flight Attendant for Southwest for the past 21 years, I’ve always been passionate about volunteering and I’m thankful to be part of a Company that supports this passion. Recently, I participated in a community opportunity that surpassed my wildest dreams with the help of nearly 30 Southwest Employees and numerous community partners!

For one of last year’s recipients, Emily Rojas, the award meant the world to her.
When I moved from California to attend college across the country in Washington D.C., I always assumed I was going to travel back home for the holidays. However, when my family and I realized how much it would financially cost us for me to go back home, we knew it wasn’t something we could afford. After two years away at school, I was finally able to make the trip back home for Thanksgiving thanks to the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) and Southwest Airlines.
At the end of last year, I had the opportunity to help celebrate two very special programs sponsored by Southwest Airlines. Both programs celebrate children and there is no better way to bring these two events together than to create an incredible day for some amazing kids at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®!
