Family booked flights to get to their dad/grandfather's 90th birthday which we all know only happens once and the plane had technical difficulties and the flight was canceled. is there any way to try and accommodate the five family members who were traveling as we don't want them to miss this family milestone.

The best thing to do is talk to the customer service representative at the gate or you can call southwest at 800-435-9792 and they can assist in rebooking (hold times may be long because of the hurricane).

If your ok with spliting up you may ask the representative to do that as flights may be full.

With Dorian approaching and casusing the airline to cancel flights, you may find the phone lines are jammed. If so,  try the cell phone app chat function.

Twitter or e-mail can be tried in parallel. If using twitter, do not include things like confirmation number until you are in DM mode. To access either twitter or e-mail click on contact us at the bottom of this page,  and then either twitter or e-mail from the choices on the top left of the ensuing page.

That being said, everyone that was on the same cancelled flight that you were on is scrambling for the same open seats that you are, and no airline can give you seats if it has no seats to give. The airline will get you to your destination. The question is when.

Hope it works out. Good luck.
