If you were rebooked for Saturday or later, this may be your chance to make a change and travel sooner.

Now I'm wondering if I need to cancel this flight due to the mess going on right now.
Does anyone believe that this will be sorted out by January 10th?
I do, but if you are really concerned, book a backup flight on another airline - one that would give a travel fund or refund upon cancellation.

I think it is minimally better, but still not good at all. Over 2000 Thursday flights canceled.
You should have a much better idea tomorrow.

I’ve never heard of Southwest shipping luggage, is this something they are legitimately doing? Are you sure this was from Southwest? There are lots of scammers out there.

Jessica, all airlines will on occasion use couriers to ship bags from airports to passengers' homes / hotels. Most likely when a passenger gets in one day and the bag a different day

Every person/company can screw up, Southwest has certainly done that here.
I've had occasions of bad service on every airline I have ever flown. I don't believe in one strike and you are out.
I am tolerant of a first strike. On the second strike, I'm a bit more angry, but still kinda tolerant. On that third strike, though YOU ARE OUT.
I have blackballed two three strike airlines in my life: Branniff in ancient times (but I showed them didn't I), and American.
People have every right to be very angry at Southwest, but if this is your first strike on Southwest, I hope you give the company another chance.

Sorry to hear of your troubles.
Southwest has said it would reimburse reasonable costs of the type you have incurred. How long will it take? No one knows. You and tens of thousands+ will be asking for refunds and this is not something Southwest has ever done in the past - so it have to invent the methodology on the fly.

You could try one of the international 800 numbers. I understand the wait isn;t terrible

Alternatively, you could ask for a refund

Sorry, I have no idea, and in the time it took you to write your post and me to respond, there is a pretty good chance that someone else scooped up the two seats. There are lots of people that are doing what you are doing
Try one of the international toll free numbers to get an answer. Unlike the US 800 numbers, I understand the wait times are not too bad.

Part of the cause for the current meltdown is lack of staff.
If the airline uses the staff it does have to spend time hunting thru hundreds (thousands?) of bags to return to customers, then those employees will not be able to help those people who might be lucky enough to actually get on a flight.
Yeah, it's a pain.
