Congrats that's a lot of companion pass!
You'll have to ask to confirm - I do think it would be restarting if the new pass is a separate pass from the promotional pass. But it might not reset if the permanent pass is just an extension of the promotional pass.
If the permanent pass came in and you didn't have to do anything else to nominate the companion, then I suppose the previous change may still count according to @TheMiddleSeat 's suggestion.
But it would be easy enough for you to ask via chat on social media or call at an off-peak time to confirm.

I guess what you’re saying is that employees are not a good source information for how things (like companion promotions) work. At least you and I agree that customers should not rely on what employees say.
They can't add a companion pass like that it isn't one of the things a phone rep can do, and refunding is also an issue. The best you could probably do is get a LUV voucher but if you won't be flying Southwest then that offering wouldn't be useful to you anyway.

Hi!
Thanks so much for elaborating on your answer! I appreciate it! It's amazing the length that Southwest goes to in order to ensure their passengers are cared for. That's why they are my 'go-to' airline and always will be!
I wanted to ask because I had booked a really early flight on a WGA fare and wanted to be able to account for a possible contingency plan in the event worst comes to worst. I'm a planner and always have a Plan B when something goes wrong.
...
I usually always book an Anytime ticket just to account for this (because of the added flexibility + extra points per dollar) but was flying WGA on travel funds and wanted to see how this policy would apply.
Definitely book the flight you think you'll be on - if you do miss the next flights might be full so it could be a while before they slot you back in.
If it is dicey I would tend to book the later flight and then try for standby earlier. Or bring something to do in the airport if you do get there way early.
They must keep track of that also, if someone was doing this often I'm sure it would be flagged.

I was looking at an old forum and TheMiddleSeat referenced Southwest's unofficial "flat tire" policy.
Does this policy apply to Wanna Get Away (discounted fare) customers, or does this only come to "full-fare" customers (Anytime & Business Select)?
I know that Southwest charges Wanna Get Away customers a fare difference if they wish to standby for an earlier/later flight, whereas Anytime & Business Select tickets get a free same-day change. If you miss your flight and are traveling on a WGA ticket, do you get to standby for the next flight for free?
This sounds too good to be true, but that's typically the case when it comes to Southwest so I just wanted to confirm.
A couple of clarifications - Anytime and BS can rebook their tickets for later flights but same-day standby is only for earlier flights.
BS also gets a travel fund automatically if the flight is not canceled 10 minutes prior and then missed where the others are forfeit in that case, except points bookings are refunded for all fare types.
*Edit: Anytime fare is a refundable fare and will also automatically be converted to travel funds if flight is missed. Anytime and BS at full fare will be able to rebook if seats are available since the fare will be the same. WGA could expect a fare increase for a same-day booking in many cases, which varies by route. Then the Flat Tire rule unofficially is only applicable if you show up at the airport to claim it within two hours of your original flight. So the idea of gaming the system is limited to a brief window before you’d be forfeit and rebooking at additional cost. No missing your flight in the morning and showing up at 5 p.m. that we know of.
I did use this one time - major wreck on I75 coming back to Orlando from Sarasota (Southwest didn’t fly SRQ at the time, now we fly there) and our side was just the gapers delay - but we made it to MCO within the two hour window and there were plenty of seats open, we made it.

Oh my I just put the Twitter team through a multi-day ordeal to change a RT flight that I booked but I wanted to change my return date but also change companion for each leg. This would have been a piece of cake as one-ways…
The order is important as well - I had them cancel the companion on the second leg so I could change it and then was blocked from changing it, and couldn’t re-add companion afterwards. I should have just asked to have the return leg split off into a separate confirmation.
Also complicated on the rebooking with the kiddos…their new ticket can’t be arranged until the adult is updated.

You might be able to see it on both sides in places where there is an intercoastal waterway on the Gulf side - it won't be the same beach, but there could be beach on one side of a key and then also the mainland, or on the intercoastal of another beach.
I think this would be rare to see beach on both sides though.

It was part of a round trip but the second leg was cancelled. We were rebooked on a flight the next day which was also cancelled. We ended up driving home. Would the flight not then be considered a one way? It was still a leg flown on December 31 and according to their A-list status rules, any travel in the calendar year should count. I don't know how the data is entered. I have written to Southwest several times and called a few times. When I call, they tell me to write. I received a response from them denying A-list because the flight I was scheduled for on Jan 4 doesn't count. They don't seem to get that I didn't fly on Jan 4.
This one is sticking with me. What happened when Southwest cancelled the flight and you ended up driving? Did you get a refund for the second leg of travel, or is that lingering in the system somehow keeping the first flight from being closed out?
If you had no-shown for the second flight then the first one would also be wiped out for not completing travel but from the description it was Southwest that canceled the flight?

Was the flight flown on Dec 31 part of a round-trip reservation with the 2nd leg in 2022? That would be the only reason a flight might not count for 2021 when flown in 2021. Even then, someone should be able to rectify the issue. What do you mean "entered in error" since no one is manually entering flight data?
You really are better off writing so someone can have the time to research the issue and determine how to resolve it versus putting a phone agent on the spot when they may not have all the needed info/ability to adjust it.

Even then it should count for 2021 - but the trick is that you have to wait until the whole trip is complete for it to register.
I'm not sure how this cancellation is affecting it.
Was it past midnight (central time) on December 31st?

Only with the exception that if there is one ticket left at a price it would display for buying one ticket.
If you then try to buy two tickets it could show at the next bracket's price for both, it doesn't average it out necessarily.
*EDIT: often there are more than one ticket available at the current price, so I'm not suggesting that this happens frequently, but it could happen when buying two tickets uses up the current allotment at the current price.
So there could be the occasional instance of one ticket being cheaper per person than two tickets purchased at the same time.

The points valuations below are all fair - of course you aren't technically allowed to sell points to someone else - but what if you go to the website now and look and just tell them the current price, unless you think the fare has changed much since you bought it originally. I'm gathering that you paid their fees as well, so the "even exchange" including all fees would be if they paid whatever it is right now as long as that's close to what it may have been in the past.

This is a customer to customer forum, so you best bet to put in this suggestion officially would be to use the Contact Information to reach out to Southwest directly.
I don't know the ins and outs of the ticketing system on why this would or wouldn't make sense. I'm assuming there is some hiccup with the travel funds being tied to a person and can't be used for separate fees although the request in general seems reasonable.
Southwest doesn't necessarily want travel funds hanging out there as an obligation either, but they may just be hamstrung by the ticketing software.
Can you use LUV vouchers to pay for it usually?

Southwest does serve a few airports in that size range. It would just depend on gate availability first and then also what would be the major routes. Looking at some other similar sized facilities Southwest would want to get a good load factor to two or three other cities from there.
Are the fares high right now where Southwest could come in and disrupt the market?

I saw some fly off of the luggage cart due to a tight turn and some wind on a recent trip, skidding across the tarmac. They probably left a mark. Entertainment for those of us waiting at the gate.
If you notice damage like you see from Wolverine you can bring it to the attention of the baggage office but must do so within four hours. I think they do pay for some loss or damage on regular bags, but you sign a waiver for gate checked items for damage. I’m not 100% on that and only recently have ever owned an expensive enough bag to worry about it, but that’s my carry on. Someone else feel free to chime in if damage to the luggage itself isn’t covered to some degree.

You don’t earn the CP for a specific year, as noted you earn it in one year and then get it for the rest of the year and the next.
There are some articles out there about how to earn CP early in a year so you end up having almost two years of it - like you are describing the points have to hit in January with a big bonus to do that.
So anyway, the one clarification to the @chgoflyer ’s post above is that you would need to contact Chase more than Southwest, Chase is the entity providing those bonus points from spending. If they move it around then Southwest will follow. Southwest won’t award a companion pass without Chase “paying” for it.

Hi there. Typically I have great things to say about Southwest but something that bothered me this past trip was the search/rummaging TSA agents did on my checked bags. I understand that this is part of the process, but to a point. First of all, in the past they would leave a note in the bag saying that it was opened and inspected. No note was seen in my bag. Secondly, there should be a limit as to how much rummaging an agent can do in a checked bag. After all that is my property and I, like many others, are very private.
You may ask how I knew my bag was opened and checked. Thats a fair question. The reason is because my laptop bag was closed and my laptop was off when I packed (I make it a point to turn off my electronic devices). When I opened my luggage, my laptop bag was opened and my laptop had been turned on. What purpose did they have in taking my laptop out and turning it on? I may be over-reacting, but I don't see the need to tamper that much into someone else's belongings.
Are you checking it often? Make sure it doesn’t have a lithium battery which is not allowed in checked bags.
If it’s valuable at all then I wouldn’t check a laptop, although mishandling is rare it does happen from time to time.

How soon do you need to use the funds? As @bec102896 mentioned it may be possible to make a change, this policy had been relaxed a little in recent years compared to the past although it won't look great that you didn't try to correct it when you had the flight originaly, but only now that it is travel funds want to change it.
And as @TheMiddleSeat mentioned it may be possible to fly with the misspelt name anyway. This would mainly have a downside if she has a rapid rewards account and was using this flight to achieve a status under the correct spelling.
