Absolutely! Travel funds can be used toward more than one flight if the balance will cover more than one. You just have to complete all the trips by the expiration date of the travel funds. Learn all about travel funds from this knowledge base article. Also note that depending on when you travel funds were created due to your flight cancellation, you might have a significant period of time to use the funds due to the current COVID-19 situation. Learn more about that here. Happy flying!

@Matt4202 Keep in mind that you can always cancel your points bookings to re-book with cash! You get the points back and the fee part via travel funds. You can reuse those travel fund to combine with cash to book like normal. Given how prices are looking, now might be a good time to do that. AND with all the schedule changes, it might be a helpful second look at all you have booked. And I feel you with the points thing. I generally sit on points so that I pay cash for my flights so they will count for A List qualification. I use CP for my wife and points of my kids. One of these days I won't be flying much anymore, and those hoarded points will be super valuable. It is ALL about the game! 🙂

@ctipton Based on the latest here, it looks like SW is resuming normal ops to Costa Rica at the end of June (at least as of now). Last flight from the United States to San Jose, Costa Rica & Liberia, Costa Rica will operate on Wednesday, March 18. Last flight from San Jose, Costa Rica & Liberia, Costa Rica to the United States will operate on Sunday, March 22. Our current plan is to resume normal operations on Sunday, June 28. Click here to rebook. I would reach out to SW via Twitter or Facebook or by giving them a call, and I imagine they can help you with your options.

Points are always subject to change. Just like points per dollar may go down or go away, points per dollar might also be increased for a period of time. The way I see it, it's extra points, and I'll take them!

@Matt4202 Thanks for pointing this out! Caveats like this are always interesting because...I have a feeling that anyone who flies enough to qualify for status or CP will already be well aware of these points you mention. On the other hand, folks who don't know these points likely don't travel enough to come close to qualifying for status and CP. That said, part of playing the "game" is playing by the rules, and what you point out is definitely an important consideration. For some (like me), I would not dream of taking the point conversion option, BUT for some, it could be a great option...especially for those who might prefer to use their funds-converted-to-points for others to travel. Southwest was not quick to offer some of the options that have come about here, BUT I am really happy with what they are now offering in the way of travel fund extensions, points, status, CP. There are options, and the community here is the perfect place to talk through them all. 🙂

Hopefully! The unfortunate part of situations like this is there has to be a line, I guess. On the one hand, I hope there will be an extension that gets you covered. On the other hand, I want things to get back to normal. I guess we will wait and see. Good luck!

Same as @dfwskier for me. All of mine that qualify now show as the 2022 correct date. It did take a few days for them all to process.

If the situation continues, I would expect that the extension of the funds will continue. As this is an ever-evolving situation, they will continue to re-evaluate. I would advise you to keep an eye here, and you can also reach out to SW via Twitter or FB Messenger. The good thing is if the end up making an exception for June expirations, it will automatically be applied.

@Jonesbbkr I have CP and am ALP as well, so I get it. That said, CP is unlike any other airlines perk. The cost to SW is likely astronomical, so as anxious as I am to understand how they will adjust, I cannot blame them for being slow to get a full understanding of the depth and length of the CV-19 situation. The response should be proportionate to the issue. I am anxious to see what they will so, but I am not equating a slow response to a lack of concern for customers.

@cookie0404 That absolutely has to be a personal decision. One other thing to consider: some states and municipalities have restrictions where you would have to self-quarantine based on your travel. That is also worth looking into as well.

@ckokinda The extension for my travel funds has not been processed either. I talked with the Twitter team at SW, and the were not sure when it would be processed but assured me it would. Stay tuned!

I am not sure if they are enforcing any social distancing with seating, but I am not sure they would have to. That said, you can find info about what they ARE doing here and here.

@bmark107 Unfortunately, the answer is not something any of us will know here...and likely not something even Southwest will know for now. This is a complicated situation, and I believe they are trying their best to offer what is needed and nothing more in order to run the most efficient least money-losing way possible. It is a delicate balance, and as CV-19 continues and evolve, their response will have to as well. Buckle up! Hopefully you will see a reduction in the adjustments, but I'm not sure that will be the case at this point.

Can you be a little more specific? What type of phone do you have? Is the software up to date? Also, there is a mobile website as well.

You question is clear. Currently, there is no exception for travel funds expiring this November. If you use the funds and then cancel, they will still expire in November UNLESS SW extends the exceptions to the rules to cover funds expiring in that time frame. I would expect that with the ever-changing environment, this would be a wait and see thing. Hope you can make your trips!

@prenault11 I hate to ask you to reach back out, but I would discuss this matter with SW customer relations by reaching out via Twitter or FB message or by calling 855-234-4654. I’m not saying they will offer a refund, but if anyone can, that department can. Good luck!

Regardless of how many chemicals are pumped onto a plane, gunk on a try table only comes off by wiping it off. While there may be some ways to "fog," I don't see how they can avoid manual cleaning. More directly from SW here.

iMessage is another option, but I assume you are using an Android device. Text message are provided via the carrier's signal which is not available in the air. You can provide the feedback as was mentioned, but I am not sure that this is functionality that SW would even be able to implement.

I am very confident that SW will not allow you to use travel funds to purchase flight for others beyond the person to which the travel funds belong. That is a very black and white rule. That said, I would reach out directly to SW via one of the Contact Us options below to see what options you may have. Twitter or Facebook message are easy ways to get in touch. Good luck!

See the latest from SW here: A-List Preferred, A-List and Companion Pass Qualification I know many of our A-List Preferred, A-List, and Companion Pass Members—or those working to qualify for these benefits—have questions about how the current environment may impact their ability to qualify for status this year. While I don’t have an answer for you today, we are closely monitoring this and will follow up at the appropriate time on how we will address this situation.
