I'm what you call "elitist." I travel countless days per year and earn that sustain...and the perks that come along with it like being able to standby onto earlier flights for free. As has been stated, SW offers this perk to its most valuable customers for free. Other customer can pay to upgrade to the full far, again...as has been stated. Honesty hour: this will not change, and SW's response to the OP was not bull...it was truth. If SW allowed anyone to buy a ticket on any flight and then just swap to the earlier one with no cost, they would lose money. And SW offers way too many perks that other airlines don't that make this policy OK with me. Good luck finding another airline that will consistently let non-status holders standby for free. If you do, it might be the better choice for your travels, and that is OK.

Sorry for your troubles. I tend to agree that the WiFi is not perfect; I often experience issues, and it's often the case where the entertainment will work but the browsing won't. But it has gotten better, in my opinion. I have not experienced specifically what you describe, but I would keep a few things in mind: Try the old "clear the cache" trick and try again. WiFi is the last thing on FAs' minds, so their version of "working" is that the green indicator light is on, typically, but that doesn't necessarily translate to actually working. At least in my experience. I would give it one more goon your next flight; if you experience the same, I would reach out to the Twitter team and describe all the issues you have had and the specific steps you have taken. When you can prove that this is actually an ongoing issue, they might can take steps to resolve. Could have just been and "off day." 🙂 Good luck!

I'm sure you will have lots of opinions here. For me, this is not apples to apples. It's one person vs. two. To be clear, passengers of size much ourchase the seats they need and reach out after the fact for a refund for the extra seats. They are not flying for free. On the other hand, if SW just gives seats to kids, that means they would be flying for fully free. It isn't the same. And kids under two already fly free. Also, my under-two kids flying as a lap child have more than once ended up with their own seat on a not-full plane. SW already offers crazy good benefits for flying families. I'm not sure you will find what you are looking for at any airline, so for me, the existing benefits seal my business with Southwest.

We also always check the car seats, even for our three year old. You can use a CARES harness for added protection for those kids who have their own seats. While you might can cram two seats in a bag, I would recommend against it to prevent damage. SW covers baby items for loss but not damage. I would think that the two car seats in one bag would be more easily damaged. And we purschsed our own car seat bags on Amazon; they are sturdy and have backpack style straps. Very useful!

Keep in mind that you must do it exactly as you say: cancel before getting the new card. The restrictions prevent personal card holders from getting a bonus on a new personal card at any point, so you can't apply for the new card while you still have the old one and get the bonus. And, as you mentioned, you can't get a second bonus within 24 months. More details here.

The points should post to your SW account within a day (in my experience) if the statement where you met the spend requirement closing! So your 40k from the personal should definitely count within 2019 for qualification for having CP in 2020. Your statement will show the points you receive, and then you will be able dm to see them in your RR account. If you wait to use the business card, those points will post next year, of course, and will count towards the next year if CP qualification (2021). Hope that helps! Good luck.

I get that getting A vs. B is a huge difference! I remember the days when EB practically guaranteed an A spot, but SW doesn't advertise it that way or guarantee it. Half the benefit is not having to remember to check in right at 24 hrs out. I can't imagine the logistical challenge of having families identify themselves at booking. What if another family member were added after original booking? What if the booked date of when all the boarding positions had been released? What if there were such a large number of A Listers and EBs that there were not many seats together for families? These days, getting a B spot is simply something you have to consider. If EB is still worth it for you at that point, go for it. If not, remember to check in right at 24 hrs out and hope for the best.

Short answer, no. As one of the most valuable perks in the industry, there are strict rules around what qualifies and how to qualify.

It is also worth noting that the check in desks probably do not open 4 hours before the first flight of the day, however. You might reach out to the airport and/or Southwest via Twitter, if you have it, to find out what they they counter opens for bag checking.

I agree that I think you will be fine and that there will be seats together. Note that there are so many A Listers now and folks who buy Early Bird that getting the mid-B section is very common for folks who do not have status or purchase EBCI. You could also consider using the medical pre-board option, especially if her anxiety is severe.

@chgoflyer Agreed. I hope this is something I never have to experience as a solo traveller...and def not while travelling with my family. I echo the above: please take time to get this feedback directly to Southwest.

I have not personally, but there is no reason I see to have any concerns. Sam's is a reputable brand that no doubt sells countless gift cards, especially around the holidays. You also get the benefit of slight cost savings over the face value of the gift cards. Something to consider: Sam's often sells bundles of smaller denomination gift cards (i.e. three $50 gift cards), but SW only allows up to three forms of payment per passenger. I think this would restrict how many gift cards you can use especially if the gift card does not cover the whole cost. Just something to think about. More on payment options here.

My assumption is that if she had an A3 boarding pass, she or her employer paid the same premium you did for a Business Select ticket. She is entitled to sit where she pleases just as you are.

Unfortunatley, we can't see your pix until the moderator approves them, but according to the guidelines on Southwest's site, you should be good to go! "Carryon items are limited to one bag plus one smaller, personal-type item. Southwest Airlines limits carryon bag dimensions to 10 x 16 x 24 inches."

This has been recommended before, and yes...it would be really helpful! If I am not mistaken, however, even SW employees don't have access to a view like that. But I could be wrong about that. My feeling is that the ability to not lose money when you change flights is so great that SW (from a business perspective) may want to keep the responsibility of keeping up with funds on their customers. And I am not sure I blame them? Again, my opinion. If you happen to use Concur for work travel, it keeps up with travel funds, and it is easy to apply old funds to new reservations. I love it! I keep an email folder for all my personal travel funds, and I also not the conf numbers and amounts on my phone. All that said, if you would like to ensure SW gets this suggestion, please use the Contact Us link below. Thanks!

I am not 100% sure. My flights post into my Outlook calendar, but I am pretty sure that happens because of the Concur confirmation emails...not the Southwest ones. That said, I did find this article about adding event from email to calendar. I hope that helps!

I tried to research, and I don't find anything helpful. I do recall that security a DEN is quite complex; that said, I would assume that the Fly By line would be located with the other airlines' expedited security lanes. Sorry we could not be more help!

It sounds like your Rapid Rewards number may not be tied to the reservations. If not, I bet a quick DM to the Twitter team or the app chat can get that squared away for you. Be sure to provide your conf number and the RR numbers for both you and for him. After that, it should show up. Good luck!

Any seat assignments on SW = longer to turn the plane around. Frankly, unless those assigned seats = revenue enough to make up for the time delay in getting the plane turned around, I don't see a change coming anytime soon. But that is just my opinion. I have learned that my stress during boarding depends directly on whether or not I try to pass judgement and get bend out of shape about pre-boarders. As I have said before here, I have multiple friends and family members with invisible needs; therefore, I just assume positive intent in folks, I board in my spot, and I enjoy my flight. I generally don't like the out bit about "all the seats are going to the same place" since I like to sit in the exit row, but honestly, it is true. And pre-boards can't sit in the exit row anyway; in my experience, this is always strictly enforced.

Check out all the Southwest fun here. Also note that SW generally provides free drinks on holidays, so if you are flying today, you can enjoy costumes and cocktails! Enjoy!

Indeed we have seen other examples where trying to book immediately after the schedule release only yields higher fares. I also echo the advice to wait. Over the past year, I have kept an eye on certain international flights, and I have seen wild swings in pricing based on whatever sales SW was running at any given moment. I feel very confident you will see better pricing. Good luck!
