You are incorrect. This is the story. I requested the police report from the airport because I, too, felt certain I was missing something. I received it last week. The report states the young reporter did not want me removed from the flight and did not feel threatened. This additional information only confuses me more.

As someone who is a bag checker, I never put anything in the overhead bins. How about the people with nothing in the overhead bins get to deplane first so we don't have to wait for the many travelers with luggage in the overhead bins. I could be off the plane in less than 10 seconds.
Interesting idea; however, as a frequent flyer, I'm not sure how Southwest (or any other airline) would be able to execute this on a full-sized plane.
For just about all my trips, once the plane arrives at the gate and the captain turns off the seatbelt light, I see many people get up to get their bags from the bins and wait standing in the aisle as the crews dock the jet bridge. Once crews dock the bridge and open the door, passengers usually exit very quickly.
Having the passengers with overhead bin luggage wait in their seats until the bridge is docked so that passengers with no overhead bin belongings could de-plane first would most likely add excessive unproductive gate time to the exiting process (a big no-no in the industry)...and asking people to sit back down to clear the aisle after they collect their bags would not work from a practical standpoint as there would be very limited space in the seat area for the baggage.
A possible remedy for anybody desiring to exit the plane quickly who are not A-List is to purchase Upgraded Boarding (or Business Select) and pick an open seat toward the front of the plane. That way, you'll be near the front and one of the first to get off. However, that benefit may be negated if one has checked bags as I've sometimes seen the baggage merry-go-round doesn't even start until most everybody is off the plane and in the claim area.

Yep if the baby has a paid seat the baby gets 2 bags as well so you could take the baby with you and check the bags that way then just have partner get boarding pass after they park or use mobile pass and head straight for security.
Stroller and car seat also are exempt and don't count if either of the bags was for that purpose. i.e. you and a ticketed baby get four items, plus two baby gear bags for stroller/car seat.

BallSportsGear@huacorp,
According to the Southwest website, it may take up to 72 hours for the transferred points to be posted to your Rapid Rewards account. However, some users have reported that the points may show up sooner, depending on the time and day of the transfer. If you need to book a flight urgently, you may want to consider other options, such as paying with cash or using a different credit card. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you.
Best Regards,

You cannot, under the law, require a preboard passenger to be delayed at exiting the plane. In fact, it would be more logical for them to exit the plane before anyone else.
Keeping a passenger on the plane against their will would result in a lawsuit for illegal detention and arrest.

I don’t unfortunately, but I emphasized “What’s the point of booking through Chase?!” a few times and explained that SW would allow me to change my flight without issue. I’d keep trying and asking to speak to a supervisor. I’m sorry, and I hope you get this resolved soon!

Hi all, I am flying home for Christmas and have some Christmas Presents that I need to figure out where to put so all help is appreciated!
I have:
-3 small wooden signs
-small koozies
-bracelets / ring
Thank You!
These sound like checked items to mee unless the bracelets/ring are valuable they can probably be carry on, especially if they are small you won't notice them in addition to your other items in the carry on.
Signs and koozies seems like checking would be easier.

I totally agree with you. For my 5:30 AM flights, it is totally worth it. Plus, I just found out that that I get two or three free EBs with my credit card. Plus, on vacation, I don't have to worry about checking in 24 hrs prior. However, each to their own.

But early morning if flying eastbound directly at the sun, it would be ion the nose of the plane, and if flying westbound directly away fro the sun it would be on the tail of the plane,
but
during the day if flying southbound directly at the sun it would also beon the nose of the plane, but if flying northbound directly away from the sun it would be on the tail.

SW has stopped enforcing its rules a few years ago, and it is no longer pleasurable, nor economically useful to fly Southwest. Where I generally fly out, with a little planning, Delta and American can be equal in price. It is a huge turnoff upon boarding to see the one faker with an entourage preboard.

Before my hip replacement I also used a cane to board the aircraft. Put it in the overhead compartment. No problem there, either.

Or since they are charging people to give them an early bird they could pay a decent dev to write code to not make that seat available and instead assign it to the earliest person that bought an early bird and then keep following that algorithm till no early birds are left. Most other airlines do something similar. From a guy that was a dev in an airline
Former dev but not a former Southwest passenger? The seats aren't assigned on Southwest.

I leave my winter coat in the car. Walking from the parking garage only takes a couple of minutes and I can put up with the cold for the sake of not having to lug a coat around.
People have certainly seen me waiting in the vestibule at Economy Parking garage at MDW without any coat since I was headed somewhere warm and wouldn't need it.
The main risk of this is for late flights back to MDW sometimes the buses have been off schedule and a long wait and long line, and you can't wait in the vestibule going in that direction or you'll never board while there's a long line. In that case one time I called an uber, went out to the median and yelled over towards the line "who wants a ride to the economy garage?" and actually had a pilot hop out of line to ride over with me. Glad to help him get back to his home earlier!

@Jack2act I know this isn't the solution to what you are seeking, but, here goes anyway. As a senior myself (67) I am for the most part able bodied and have never even had a thought of trying to get any early access to boarding. But just as a individual I take no issue with any senior getting any extra benefit, in good faith or not, for any service. The more elderly they are, the more I accept that.

On a delayed flight last year into BWI there were six passengers who had tight connections to other flights. The FA made an announcement asking everyone to be patient and stay seated so they could exit first. Everyone complied and the six were off the plane within a couple of minutes of reaching the gate. No big deal.
Glad to hear that it can work!

Is it possible to make flight number bigger at gate on TV
Hello-
The graphic designs seen on the Gate Monitors appear to vary by airport--the airport manages some; others have Southwest's innovative digital wayfinding feature that I assume Southwest manages. Do you happen to have a picture of the gate monitor in question? Examples below. If not, which airport and which gate # are you referring to? That will help determine who to forward your suggestion to.
E.g. Airport-managed gate monitors:
SAN, Terminal 1 (west airside wing)
SAN Terminal 1, (east airside wing)
LAS Terminal 1, (B Gates Wing)
SMF Terminal B:
Airline-Managed Gate monitors:
OAK w/ Southwest's digital wayfinding graphics:
Thanks!

That;s strange.
My experience is that pre boarding starts at 30 minutes, and general boarding starts at about 20 minutes. - of course that is dependent on the number of pre boarders.
I think the SW policy is that if you are not at the gate at 10 minutes, then they have the ability to give your seat away.
It was only this one time for me, but they were ready to go at the 30 minute mark and had fully boarded the plane except for us and I don't recall now if they were calling any names over the speakers. Actually I didn't hear them call ours, we just saw the gate area and were like "oh nice, they are just finishing up boarding the earlier flight so we have plenty of time" and then realizing there was no one else sitting down that it was actually our flight.
