I am new to the forum and this article prompted me to join. I am a retired airline pilot and lived in Puerto Rico for 12 years as a young commuter pilot and airline manager. I met my Puerto Rican wife of nearly 43 years there where she became head of personnel at the airline a few years after I had joined. We both left for the States in 1984, but still visit relatives on the island yearly and have a soft spot in our hearts for the island and its people. My Puerto Rican born daughter is currently a Senior Assistant Attorney General for the State of Colorado and her husband is a pilot for Southwest, based in Denver, their home. Our 9 year old twin grandchildren, boy & girl, are enrolled in a Spanish language charter school in Denver, and converse with their mother and their grandmother, my wife, in Spanish. We live in Cheyenne, WY, a 100 mile drive to see our Denver family, close enough to babysit for a week, but far enough not to babysit for an evening. My wife and I always fly Southwest exclusively, if they serve our destination.
