You legally cannot ask many people their medical reason for needing Pre-Board. Against HIPPA...so this will always be a tricky one to solve for.

As we approach those final days of 2021 you may still be thousands of points short of the CP, and have given up going for it for next year...maybe rethink that. Do NOT forget about points earned thru Hotel stays all go toward the Companion Pass! I am about 35k points short right now and I just booked 2 rooms around the holidays for 4 nights at a "Rapid Rewards Points Plus" property and I will net right around 40K points after paying for a "points boost". Yes it tends to be a bit more expensive booking hotels thru Southwest along with the points boost, but if it gets you to that CP threshold, and you plan on traveling a decent amount with someone in 2022, the $$ you will save makes it SO worth it. And 40K points can be up to 4 one way flights if you use them right. So definitely consider this if you are close. Some hotels you can get 10k+ points sometimes just for a 2 night stay (staycation anyone?) If you have any questions let me know!

Why are they not supposed to count? And if that's the case why is SW letting them count?

Yeah I see this same type of response on many posts which is why I just wish Southwest would fully clarify what points qualify you for what. Even when I call their customer service agents don't seem to fully know. I get so many "I think so's" or "let me check" shouldn't they be fully trained on this? However, from looking at some other posts it does look like hotel points booked on SW.com do count toward companion.

I agree with this. The whole point of the "open boarding policy" was to make the process more expedited and efficeient. It seems to have lost those roots. From the excessive amount of wheelchairs and preboards, to the families with kids well over the age of 6 boarding early it is taking away for the loyal customers who actually follow protocol. I know there are one off situations and SW can't catch everything, but I think the gate agents could do a better job in making sure people board where they are suppose too. Especially in today's world where everyone wants to be the first one on paranoid they won't get overhead space for their massive "carry-ons".

Hello fellow SW Luv'ers, Apologies in advance for somewhat lengthy post...I want to get some insight from some of you SW experts out there. So I recently got approved and received my Southwest Priority card. I fly SW a decent amount every year (maybe 10 one way flights) so nothing crazy. Therefore, I really did not think I had a shot at earning the Companion Pass. Was really just looking at the 60k points as a way to get some free flights. However, I also did not initially realize that the 60k points go toward the 110k points needed. So I would only need to earn 50k points by the end of 2019. Nice, but still a tough feat for someone who dosen't fly that often. But then my buddy who is a frequent SW flyer told me about booking hotels thru SW.com and how many points you can earn if booking with a "preferred partner". I did some searching and saw how you can earn 15-20k points at certain hotels just for staying 3-4 nights! So now I am definitely thinking about "going for it" with the companion pass. I just want to make sure I am not wrong about anything I have stated above. Because the hotels still are not cheap by any means, and I didn't really have anymore major trips left to plan for 2019. So trying to weigh cost vs benefit and want to make sure I don't screw up and am out a bunch of $$. Also, would love to hear other strategies for earning the points to get to companion status. Thanks in advance!

Hi all, I think I am going to apply for the Priority Card. I currently have the Chase Sapphire Preferred, so this would probably be just to really take advantage of the 60k points + yearly perks of the card. I am a little upset I missed out on the Companion Pass offer, but still seems like a good deal for only $150 a year. I fly Southwest on average probably around 10-15 one-way flights per year. Do you guys still think it is worth it?
