It’s-a-me, Mario! Southwest and Nintendo are teaming up for a summer of surprises with Nintendo Switch and Super Mario Maker 2. Southwest is proud to partner with Nintendo to bring fun collaborations to our Customers, and this flight was one to remember! On the flight, Nintendo representatives challenged Southwest Customers to play a custom air travel-themed Mario Maker 2 level. One lucky Customer who played the level won a Nintendo Switch bundled with a digital download version of Mario Maker 2 and a $500 Southwest gift card.
After the gaming challenge, Customers were surprised to hear that everyone onboard had won a Nintendo Switch bundled with Super Mario Maker 2! After arriving in San Diego, Mario greeted the flight and took pictures with Customers.

Southwest Customers and Nintendo fans can enter the Let’s Play Getaway sweepstakes* for a chance to win a Nintendo Switch system bundled with a download code for the digital version of the Super Mario Maker 2 game each day between July 17 and August 13. Jaw ready for this? Shark Week is back, and Southwest is partnering with Discovery Channel for the sixth consecutive year to bring the love of sharks straight to our Employees and Customers.
We’re celebrating a number of ways in the air and on the ground to keep Shark Week fans chomping for more. New this year, we’re bringing the experience of swimming with the sharks within reach through an interactive augmented reality experience.
Type swa.is/sharkweek into the browser on your cell phone to access the experience on Facebook, which allows a user to select between the five most popular sharks featured in Shark Week programming (Great White Shark, Hammerhead Shark, Mako Shark, Tiger Shark, and Bull Shark) and have them swim around the room—or airport! Share your experience by posting your photos and videos using the hashtag #SharksTakeFlight, and don’t forget to include @SouthwestAir in your posts!
To add to this fin-tastic experience, Customers can enjoy jawsome content via the Inflight Entertainment Portal’s custom Shark Week TV Series Channel. The Shark Week TV Series Channel houses a library of Shark Week episodes to sink your teeth into, plus a never-before-seen episode, Extinct or Alive: The Lost Shark, available to watch nearly 30 days ahead of its world premiere during Shark Week. The feeding frenzy continues as you can tune in to Shark Week on Discovery Channel beginning Sunday, July 28 and continuing through Sunday, August 4 via Live TV onboard Southwest WiFi-equipped flights.
Southwest Employees are also getting in on Shark Week fun! Beginning July 8, Employees in 40 Southwest airports will display Shark Week materials in gate areas with which Customers can interact. Southwest Employees will host gate games to entertain fliers and celebrate the 31st anniversary of Shark Week, one of the most popular and longest-running televised summer events in history.
For fans who want to experience a diving excursion, Southwest is hosting a Dare to Dive sweepstakes from July 1-31 giving a chance to land a trip to Nassau, Bahamas , to enjoy a diving experience*. Anyone may visit Southwest.com/sharkweek for a chance to win roundtrip air travel (does not include taxes and fees of at least $5.60 per one-way flight) for winner and three guests, a $3,000 gift card to The Island House, a boutique hotel, and a $375 gift card to Stuart Cove’s for a diving excursion.
