As Southwest Airlines has mentioned in previous blog posts, our Network Planning Team is constantly evaluating new travel opportunities for our Customers to enjoy. Today, we are excited to add more dots to our network, available to be purchased on Southwest.com. Let’s dig into these exciting additions to the network!
Sarasota-Bradenton (SRQ)
First, as shared last week, Sarasota-Bradenton (SRQ) will become our tenth destination in the Sunshine State. We are thrilled to announce that service at SRQ will begin on Feb. 14, 2021, with four destinations available nonstop: Baltimore/Washington (BWI), Chicago Midway (MDW), Houston Hobby (HOU), and Nashville (BNA). These four cities give Customers across the country access to experience everything this region of Gulf Coastal Florida has to offer. Having spent several childhood vacations in the area, I personally can recommend a visit to Siesta Key. The powder white sand beaches are some of the most beautiful I’ve seen in the world! Book now on Southwest.com.
Savannah/Hilton Head
You might be surprised to learn that Savannah, GA is the largest market in the Continental U.S. not currently served by Southwest. This will change on March 11, 2021, when Southwest begins service to Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV)! The initial SAV schedule will link the Hostess City of the South with service to Baltimore/Washington (BWI), Chicago (Midway), Dallas Love Field (DAL), Houston Hobby (HOU), and Nashville (BNA), well-timed for Customers traveling nonstop from these five destinations, and ensuring the flights connect to a large majority of our network. Customers from across the country will experience our legendary Hospitality while traveling to the area known for its southern hospitality and southern cuisine. My stomach is already starting to growl just thinking about the amazing food scene there! Book now on Southwest.com.
International from Orange County (SNA)
You might want to dust off your passport for the third exciting development that was published today. Effective March 11, 2021, we will resume international service from Orange County (SNA)! Daily year-round service to both Los Cabos (SJD) and Puerto Vallarta (PVR) make for a tough choice, but you can’t go wrong choosing between these two amazing beach destinations! Southwest suspended International service from the airport in January, and we are excited to bring these immensely popular flights back to the schedule. Book now on Southwest.com.
Long Beach (LGB) is going to Honolulu!
Another exciting development for the Los Angeles Basin comes with the addition of our fifth gateway to the Hawaiian Islands: Long Beach (LGB)! Nonstop service to and from Honolulu (HNL) also begins on March 11, 2021, just in time for Spring Break! Book now on Southwest.com.

Keep up the additions at MSP! I like the Orlando service happening this Nov/Dec/Jan in addition to March/April. LAS needs to get to year-round. Every season, I check the loads and they are outstanding. LUV IT!

When it comes to staying in the game, sometimes you have to get creative with your way of thinking. Here at Southwest, our Network Planning and Performance Team is staying on top of their skills by creating some incredible experiences for our Customers. This week, they announced the addition of several new nonstop flights between Seattle and Phoenix and Manchester and Boston and Phoenix for the big game in Phoenix next month.
But let’s take a step back. Before the flights were even available for sale, there was another group of football fanatics ready to hit the gridiron. They were the ones deciding how many flights to add, where to add them, and more importantly putting their own unique spin on the new schedule.
Take a look at some of the newly-added flight numbers below and guess the significance of the number. Don’t forget to let us know how you did in the comments!
