After a weekend blizzard covered downtown Denver with a blanket of fresh snow, the Southwest Rink at Skyline Park was buzzing on Monday night with Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation alumni and their families, who were celebrating the season at the “Alumni on Ice” event, which was sponsored by Southwest Airlines.

The Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation helps emerging and recognized leaders expand their skills and enhance their knowledge of state and local issues, as well as leverage their individual passion to make positive changes in the community, through a variety of leadership-based programs. There are more than 2,300 graduates of Leadership Foundation programs, and these alumni represent the Denver metro region’s business, civic and community leaders. Southwest Airlines serves as the Leadership Foundation’s 2012 Alumni Engagement Sponsor, helping to support alumni programs and events.

At the “Alumni on Ice” event, families enjoyed ice skating on the Southwest Rink and warmed up with hot chocolate and snacks inside Lannie’s Clocktower, which is adjacent to the rink. And with Valentine’s Day just a week away, kids had the opportunity to make Valentine cards for their parents and decorate heart-shaped cookies. Southwest generously donated a pair of roundtrip tickets to raffle off, and the lucky winner was a recent college graduate who will use her flight to visit potential graduate schools.
