Earlier this year, Southwest Airlines welcomed an inaugural group of “Southwest Storytellers” to our Headquarters in Dallas for a dose of Southwest Hospitality and history before they began their year-long journey as our first social media ambassadors. You are encouraged to follow along on their adventures using the hashtag #SouthwestStorytellers or through their personal social media handles on all social channels.

Being an Employee in the airline industry should make me an expert packer, but judging by number of times I’ve had to pack and repack my bags to make everything fit just right, I’m far from that. As the saying goes, practice makes perfect, and sometimes a few tips friends or the internet can help.
Southwest Airlines partnered with GenHERation to offer two young women from the GenHERation network the chance to attend the 2018 Southwest Airlines Rally in Las Vegas. During the Rally, Melissa and Heidi heard from Senior Leaders on the main stage, connected with Southwest Employees to learn about their career journey, visited with different Teams during the Expo, and experienced the Southwest Culture firsthand.
Today, we are thrilled to welcome Louisiana One as the 12th state-themed aircraft* in Southwest Airlines’ specialty fleet! On the heels of New Orleans’ tri-centennial celebration, Southwest is thanking our Employees and loyal Customers for 39 years of dedicated service with a state-dedicated Boeing 737-700 emblazoned with an artist’s rendition of the Louisiana State flag.
My first thought was to jump online and order her another one. Surely the original was long gone! And then I saw those dreaded two words—sold out. I then decided that while it was probably a long shot, I would contact Southwest directly to inquire about my daughter’s missing stuffed animal. It had been a good six or seven hours since we'd landed, so I didn't have high hopes. Thankfully, I connected with Mallory…
Southwest Airlines is a Company where People work hard and play hard. This couldn’t have been more evident than in my first month as an Intern supporting the Culture Celebration Team in the Culture Services Department.
During a memorable Southwest inflight “wedding,” a bouquet was made out of napkins and coffee packets, the usual veil was crafted lovingly out of peanut packages and coffee stirrers, and of course, videos and pictures were taken to commemorate the special occasion.
Southwest Airlines and The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) have partnered together the last 14 years for the annual "¡Lánzate! / Take Off!" Program. The program provides an opportunity for college students to travel home to see family.
For one of last year’s recipients, Emily Rojas, the award meant the world to her.
When I moved from California to attend college across the country in Washington D.C., I always assumed I was going to travel back home for the holidays. However, when my family and I realized how much it would financially cost us for me to go back home, we knew it wasn’t something we could afford. After two years away at school, I was finally able to make the trip back home for Thanksgiving thanks to the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) and Southwest Airlines.
At the end of last year, I had the opportunity to help celebrate two very special programs sponsored by Southwest Airlines. In 2017, Southwest Airlines celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Medical Transportation Grant Program and the 20th anniversary of its Adopt-A-Pilot program. Both programs celebrate children and there is no better way to bring these two events together than to create an incredible day for some amazing kids at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®!
When each of my sons finished their junior year of high school, I took them on a cross-country road trip to see the back roads of America and visit colleges. Each of the trips started with a Southwest Airlines flight from Boston to San Francisco, and each trip included a baseball game. A few weeks after the trip with my youngest son in 2006, my oldest asked “Dad, how long would it take to see all the major league parks?” I replied “Let’s find out.”
As a young couple trying to make a life in the Bay Area, we have found that although keeping a budget is the responsible thing to do, it's not always fun. Ryan and I have become experts at creatively having fun within a budget. Enter what has been affectionately named: the Epic 12-hour date day!

It’s not a secret that here at Southwest Airlines, we are a Company that has always shown love, support, and admiration for our Military. When we discovered Olivia was seeking assistance with arranging roundtrip airfare for her father, a Vietnam Veteran, to travel to Florida to meet his grandchildren and great grandson—all of whom her father had never met before, we sprung into action.
Southwest is returning for a second year as the official presenting sponsor of the Luck Reunion, a boutique music festival hosted on Willie Nelson’s “Luck, TX” ranch. The event celebrates and cultivates the evolution of American Roots, and we’re giving you a chance to join us as a VIP!
Three years ago, we met on a Southwest flight and this July is our wedding. Thanks, Southwest Airlines for helping me connect with my fiancé after spending time together in the airport, sitting next to each other on the flight, and working on a crossword puzzle together.
It won’t surprise you that one of our favorite holidays here at the LUV Airline is Valentine’s Day. And since it’s such a big deal around here, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to unveil some new (and exciting!) features on the Southwest Community.
It’s amazing what can be accomplished when we open our Hearts, put aside our differences, and come together for a common goal.
On Martin Luther King, Jr. National Day of Service, Southwest Employees, friends, and family did just that when they braved the frigid temperatures and joined together for a whole-community effort to bring positive change to the English Avenue neighborhood in Atlanta.
Southwest is returning for a second year as the official presenting sponsor of the Luck Reunion, a boutique music festival hosted on Willie Nelson’s “Luck, TX” ranch and we're giving five lucky Artists on the Rise a chance to join the line-up.
I’ve attended my first three Super Bowl weekends in New Orleans, San Diego, and Detroit and during my time in the host cities, I attended the great free or low-cost events that the NFL hosts. Thanks to Southwest Airlines, I am able to travel around the country easily for football.
