There is nothing wrong with stating Southwest policy to the employees.  There need not be any tension as long as your information is non-confrontational.

There seems to be many posts about this.  I thought I was the only one posting about the gate agents not following the rules, but I am seeing more and more.

Who said the tension has to do with a gate agent not following rules?? No one

maybe something like you know about how to fix your issue but they don’t know how

its not always about pointing a finger

Uh...the title to the post includes the words "new gate agent".

At MCO, you can carry on an unlimited number of items including your new refrigerator you got on sale.  No problems!   LOL

Use the old "Dad Trick" by saying "hey look over there, no change fees!"

...and then whey they turn their head and look, run away.

But there's not much to do unless you can search up the documentation you need on your phone or something, if the person just didn't believe you that it was supposed to be another way then you are kind of stuck. Maybe try to find another frequent flyer nearby that can back up the story in as a casual discussion.
