Needing some clarification on checking a firearm in with Checked luggage? I understand the gun has to be in a locked hard case. Can that locked case then be placed in a suitcase? If so, does the suitcase have to be locked with a TSA lock and does it have to be a hard sided suitcase?

Solution
Only the gun case must be locked and hard sided. It can be in a soft or hard sided suitcase, or checked on its own.
What the policy saying is that you cannot rely solely on the suitcase for locking or hardness, but a suitcase can provide either of those functions in addition to the gun case.
