I don't want to use WhatsApp to message! Why can't we can't text message or Facebook message with Google Fi which sends everything over WiFi where there's a signal. Can't we work something else out rather than forcing us to use Whatsapp?

I would send your suggestion to southwest directly though one of these methods: Submitting a Suggestion and/or Complaint this way they can document your suggestion and maybe make a change down the road.

iMessage is another option, but I assume you are using an Android device. Text message are provided via the carrier's signal which is not available in the air.
You can provide the feedback as was mentioned, but I am not sure that this is functionality that SW would even be able to implement.

I believe you could pay for Internet access and use other messaging services such as Facebook Messenger that send messages via a data connection. WhatsApp is the free option for Android users.
