Price has more than doubled for my trip in January since I booked it on April 25th.

It really depends on where and when you are going

That has always been true but in my case, Buffalo has never been a market that has been competitive when it comes to pricing which is why I posed the inquiry.  Delta charges over $200 more than Southwest from BUR-BUF o/w, but besides that, I have not paid $148 o/w to Buffalo in 10 years.
