Companion pass

I have just achieved a companion pass for 2018 and 2019.  My question is do any Southwest points that I achieve via Southwest credit card purchases during the rest of 2018 count toward the companion pass beyond 2018?  Or to achieve a companion pass beyond do I have to accumulate the 110,000 points starting fresh on 1/1/2019?  Thanks

The latter. Companion Pass qualification is based on the calendar year (January-December), so in order to qualify again for 2020 you'll need to earn 110,000 again points beginning on Jan. 1, 2019.

The rest of the points you earn until then will continue to be redeemable for travel, and any you earn from purchased flights will also qualify towards A-List (note that the A-List counter also resets on Jan. 1).
