Hi. I upgraded my southwest visa in August 2019 and I’m flying in July 2020 with my family of 5. Am I eligible for a free Boarding upgrade (if available) for 4 of those seats using my sw visa at the gate for this trip or does my anniversary year start 1 year after I’ve had the card? Thanks for the clarification.

Terms from the Chase site:
"Anniversary year means the year beginning with your account open date through the first statement date after your account open date anniversary, and the 12 monthly billing cycles after that each year. Eligibility for Upgraded Boardings are for accounts that switch to this product: Account open date is the date the switch is official in the Chase system"

Short answer: as long as you don't use them before and as long as there are four open spots available, you're good!
