Southwest Airlines helped fly, Flash--a beautiful and loving African Spurred tortoise--to her fantastic new home in sunny and warm Jacksonville, Florida. It is not every day a tortoise gets to fly, but it’s safe to say this one had a turtley-awesome experience!
This Women’s History Month, we’re excited to spotlight incredible women like Sunny Nadolsky.
As a Company that created the word “Transfarency,” it’s not hard to guess why Sunny Nadolsky, Founder and CEO of Medibookr, was chosen as the inaugural winner for the 2016 Southwest Airlines “Soar to Success” Business Pitch Competition.
For the past ten years, through our Medical Transporation Grant Program (MTGP), Southwest has proudly worked with a network of nonprofit hospitals and medical organizations nationwide to provide complimentary air travel to medical patients and their families in need of life-saving or life-changing medical care. To celebrate MTGP's tenth anniversary, we will donate 10,000 roundtrip flights this year to families who need to travel for specialized medical care. We also are extending a healing hand through a partnership with Musicians On Call, a nonprofit that brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities.
Musicians On Call volunteer musicians Kenli Mattus and Maggie Szabo perform for Customers at the Los Angeles Airport (LAX).
Southwest Airlines has always stood for People. In four decades of taking Customers from one destination to the next, we’ve discovered our Purpose: to connect People to what’s important in their lives through friendly, reliable, and low-cost air travel. By serving Customers and fostering those connections, we’ve seen the communities we serve flourish. It has become apparent that, in the air and on the ground, community is more than a place—it’s the heart of what brings us together. At Southwest, we’re known for our Heart, and our Heart has many facets.
More than 70 elephants call the Elephant Nature Park home.
Elephants are often subjected to horrifying conditions. Last fall, about 40 Southwest Employees and family members met in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Most were Flight Attendants, many were strangers, but everyone united with a common goal: volunteering at Elephant Nature Park.
Southwest joins Points of Light–the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service–in partnership of America’s Sunday Suppers, a meaningful way you can make a difference and connect with others on MLK Day.
