I have been on hold for 52 minutes, is the hold time typically this long??

It can be long during periods of irregular operations (weather is usually the biggest culprit).

Depending on why you are calling you may want to use Twitter (click "Contact Us" for their handle) or the chat function within the Southwest app while you are on hold.  I've had good luck with chat in the app and Twitter reportedly is fast too.

What @SWDigits said. You can even start with them while you are on the phone. Good luck!

I normally only spend about 5 minutes on hold before giving up. SW's call back function is notoriously cranky, and I would not use it.

The suggestions made up thread are good. E-Mail is another option that I've found works pretty well.
