Lawn Equipment Batteries

My Dad is giving us some batter operated lawn equipment (blower, trimmer, saw) which is operated by 40V LIthium Batteries. I confirmed we can transport the tools in our luggage, but got mixed message on the batteries. Are Lithium Batteries of that size allowable in either carry on or checked baggage? Thanks!

Looks like you would need to know the size of the batteries in grams. Here's TSA's guide: https://phmsa.dot.gov/safetravel/batteries

Solution

Thanks for the reply, but I already had that information. The problem appears to be Southwest. I called and spoke to someone who was very confused and had no real answer. Although TSA materials appear to accept the batteries as carry on, after a long wait, the SW rep said no. Then I actually stopped in the baggage office at the Atlanta airport and the persona seemed quite freaked out that I would even ask them a question.

Bottom line - I shipped everything via UPS - no problems.
