Traveling with research samples

I want to take a Southwest flight to return after retrieving samples from geothermal springs that contain non-infectious bacteria which has been confirmed by the fact that it suitable drinking water. I know that I can travel with liquids in checked bags, but I don't know the particulars of liquids containing microorganism cultures. I will have a document explaining what they are and they are labeled but I'm not sure of the particulars on this situation as I have been unable to locate any resources for this.

The Southwest sign-off on your checked luggage will be mainly pertaining to batteries and flammability.

Try the TSA website, I don't think there's anything specific about what you are asking other than bottled water which is allowed to be checked.
