So we have unused travel funds ($100) that expire December7, 2017. I was trying to book a flight from December 13-19, 2017. So from what a rep. has told me to even extend the travel fun it has to be over $100 and could not extend them til they expire. IF i bought a flight today that was before the expiration; and then cancelled that flight..would the full amount be available as travel funds from a year today so i can use them? I cannot believe they cannot extend it for me for 1 week. Please help!

No. All travel must be completed, not just booked, before expiration. If you apply those funds to a new reservation, that new reservation will expire Dec. 7 as well, including any new money you add.
Southwest won't extend funds, but once expired you can request reissue as a voucher. The fee for that is $100, so that won't help you. 😞
